Tudor Monarch Ref. 2639W1A0U: A New Chapter
For 2026, Tudor has completely reinterpreted the Monarch as part of the brand’s 100th anniversary celebration. The Monarch, once a quietly elegant part of the brand’s catalog in the 1990s, returns as a bold, modern statement piece with the new reference 2639W1A0U. And this time, it’s not here to blend in. This phenomenal piece was first introduced at Watches & wonders 2026.
This new reference is not a reissuing of a vintage design, this is a new design for a contemporary audience. The timepiece is now an elegant piece that merges sport and dress codes into something distinctly modern. At 39mm, the case hits a sweet spot: versatile, wearable, and aligned with current preferences for restrained proportions. But it’s the geometry that defines it—angular surfaces, alternating brushed and polished finishes, and a bracelet that flows seamlessly into the case architecture.
One of the main features of this all new Monarch, is the champagne dial with it’s vertical brush finish and a California-style layout, blending Roman numerals on the upper half and Arabic numerals below. It’s a design choice that instantly sparks conversation – equal parts vintage nod and avant-garde expression. There is also a small seconds sundial at 6 o’clock.
The result is a dial that refuses neutrality. It’s either a stroke of creativity – or a deliberate challenge to convention.
Inside, Tudor ensures the Monarch is more than just design-forward.
The watch is powered by the Manufacture Calibre MT5662-2U, a movement that carries both COSC and METAS certification – placing it firmly in the realm of high-performance chronometry. The movement works at 4 hertz and it delivers up to 65 hours of power reserve. This accurate movement also features a Gold-accented rotor and decorative techniques like Côtes de Genève and perlage that can be view thru the display case back.
One of the most compelling aspects of the 2639W1A0U is its bracelet. Tudor introduces a two-link integrated steel bracelet with sharp, faceted center links and its practical T-fit adjustment system.
This positions the Monarch within the increasingly competitive category of integrated bracelet watches – but with a distinctly Tudor identity: less flamboyant than some rivals, yet more experimental than the brand’s core tool-watch lines.
