The all new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve
With the release of the new Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve (Ref. Q4168120), Jaeger-LeCoultre is once again pushing its legacy forward – blending vintage inspiration with modern engineering in a way only “The Watchmaker’s Watchmaker” can do.
Drawing cues from the iconic Futurematic of 1951, this latest Master Control is a refined contemporary dress watch with subtle sport-luxury undertones, perfectly aligned with today’s collector tastes.
The first thing that stands out is the handsome dial – a stunning blue-grey gradient with a sunray-brushed finish that shifts beautifully under different lighting conditions. This stunning dial features a date subdial at 3 O’clock that replaces the traditional date window and at the 9 O’clock position there is a power reserve indicator that adds balance and character to this dial design.
Dauphine hands and applied markers complete the look, reinforcing that unmistakable Master Control DNA.
Surrounding this dial is a 39mm stainless steel case measuring just 9.2mm thick, giving it an ultra-wearable profile.
And how about the bracelet – fully integrated, with alternating brushed and polished links that flow seamlessly from the case. It’s a subtle nod to the growing demand for integrated steel watches, but executed with JLC’s refined restraint
Under the hood beats the in-house Calibre 738, a movement designed, and fully assembled by Jaeger-LeCoultre. This movement has a HPG (High Precision Guarantee). Unlike standard COSC testing, JLC goes further – testing the entire cased watch under real-life conditions including temperature changes, motion, and shocks.
The 738 works at 4 hertz using 39 jewels and has a power reserve of 70 hours. As for finishing, this movement features Côtes de Genève finishing, beveled edges and a Open worked 22K gold rotor.
For collectors who appreciate precision and understated elegance – this might be one of the most complete packages that the brand has released in years. I can see this in my personal collection in the near future.
