The New Longines HydroConquest L3.788.4.99.6: A Modern Diver
Longines continues to refine its sport watch legacy with the latest iteration of its iconic HydroConquest line. The new collection brings subtle yet impactful updates – balancing technical performance with a more contemporary aesthetic.
At first glance, this is unmistakably a HydroConquest. But look closer, and you’ll find a watch that has quietly evolved into one of the most compelling luxury dive watches in its segment.
The timepieces are available in 39 or 42 mm with various color options which includes green, black, blue and my favorite, frosted blue. This beauty is reference L3.788.4.99.6 and features a black ceramic bezel surrounding a striking frosted blue sunray dial – a finish that feels both modern and slightly unconventional for a tool watch. It catches light in a way that shifts between icy matte tones and vibrant metallic reflections. The dial also includes Applied indices and bold hands that are highly legible, with Super Luminova ensuring visibility in low-light or underwater conditions. The date window at 3 o’clock is cleanly integrated, preserving the symmetry of the dial.
The 42mm stainless steel case strikes a balance between presence and comfort. It wears confidently without feeling oversized, thanks to well-proportioned lugs and a relatively slim profile for a dive watch.
The integration of a ceramic bezel adds both durability and a premium tactile feel, elevating the watch beyond its price point. And to add the final touch, Longines has release this HydroConquest with a stainless steel needed bracelet.
It’s a really good looking timepiece but is not all about the looks….it also perform very well with 300 meters of water resistance and a robust automatic movement that offers up to 72 hours of power reserve. The movement also includes a silicon balance spring that enhances resistance to magnetism and improves long-term reliability – an increasingly important feature in modern mechanical watches.
The dive watch category is crowded, but Longines has carved out a unique position—offering heritage-backed design and high-end specifications at a relatively accessible luxury price point. With an MSRP of just $2200, is a compelling choice. And a good alternative to Omega Seamaster Diver 300M if you are on a tight budget.
