TAG Heuer 2020: Carrera Heuer 02T Aston Martin Edition

TAG Heuer‘s partnership with Aston Martin began in 2018 when the two companies announced a multi-year partnership at the Geneva Motor Show. The first two joint Formula 1 chronographs and the Carrera Chronograph soon followed. This year, the collaboration resulted in the flagship Carrera Heuer 02T from Aston Martin Edition, which is powered by its own Heuer 02 movement.

The new CAR5A8E.FT6181 watch is made in black, rose-gold and brown colors. It is a large watch, but very lightweight thanks to the use of titanium and carbon. Warm tones and golden highlights automatically make the new model a luxury sports model. The chronograph with a diameter of 45 mm has a modular case that allows you to easily combine the center and lugs of different materials. The latest version has a PVD-coated titanium case combined with carbon lugs. The case features a series of circular grooves that run across the entire surface, giving the watch a stylish three-dimensional look.

Another carbon element on the case is the tachymetric insert on the fixed bezel. Another unique feature of the watch is the crown made of steel with PVD and rubber coating with a unique pattern. On the back you can see the sapphire crystal back, through which you can see the rotor, covered with rose gold. Most of the movement is PVD coated. The black and gold theme is repeated in the inscriptions “Aston Martin Edition” and “1 in 150” (number of watches produced) on the case back.

In place of the standard dial, the Aston Martin Heuer 02 features a dark brown lattice skeleton plate. A significant portion of the dial details are plated with rose gold — the hands and hour markers, the famous Aston Martin wing logo, which are located above the TAG Heuer brand badge. The rose gold elements contrast beautifully with the dark brown and black surfaces. The registers are at position 3 and are also framed in rose gold. The model is equipped with a Caliber Heuer 02 chronograph. TAG Heuer is increasingly using its own movement. It was first installed on an Autavia version and more recently on a vintage Carrera Fragment. the use of a popular design that is appreciated by customers is gradually becoming the norm for the brand. This modern integrated automatic chronograph is based on an efficient vertical clutch and column-wheel architecture. The chronograph movement is controlled by a minute tourbillon operating at 4 Hz. Its precision is COSC certified and has a 65-hour power reserve.

The watch is equipped with a brown calfskin strap to match the overall color scheme. The strap has a rubber lining that combines sporty chic with a comfortable fit on the wrist. The folding clasp is made of titanium with black PVD coating, the push-button clasp is made of carbon.
