Omega Specialties ck 859
The new Omega Specialties CK 859 launched in 2022, is a re edition of the 1939 Omega CK 859. The timepiece is visually faithful to the original with a slight contemporary edge and a modern hand-wound movement. This desirable Omega is part of the Specialties models and is individually numbered.
The original Ck 859 is famous for its 30-t2 in house manual caliber. This movement is one of the most significant movements for Omega since it lay the foundation for today’s Omega’s mechanical movements and the companies reputation for producing timepieces with superior precision and durability.
The vintage design of the case is known as “Calatrava-style case” and is very well finish with a combination of satin finish on the lugs and full polish on the bezel and case-back. While the sector dial draws your eyes to the concentric outer rings.
The case is crafted in stainless steel and measures 39 mm in diameter by 46.2 mm when measure from lug to lug. These lugs have a 20 mm space in between for the vintage styled brown leather strap that comes paired with a stainless steel pin buckle. The buckle as well as the crown and the dial, has the vintage Omega logo.
Under the domed sapphire crystal is a dial crafted in AG 925 silver with a sector design transferred in dark blue combined with blue sword hands. This dial has an Art Deco feel and is well balanced. The design includes precision scales for the minutes and hours and a sub-dial at the 6 O’Clock position for the running seconds. The hour hand can be adjusted independently when you pull the crown to the second position for quicker adjustments.
Unlike the Original CK859, this re-edition comes with a see thru caseback that allows you to see the handsome movement. Omega is using the manual wound caliber 8926. This is a METAS certified Master, Co-Axial Master Chronometer adjusted in 5 positions.
The caliber works at 3.5hertz using 29 jewels and features free sprung balance with silicon balance spring, full balance bridge and hacking seconds function. This caliber will give up to 72 hours of power reserve thanks to the 2 barrels mounted in series.
Another great feature about this movement is that is anti magnetic up to 15,000 gauss, which allows the movement to remain accurate when exposed to magnetic fields.
This is a remarkable looking Omega and perhaps one of the most beautiful designs launched this year!
