A-Lange And Sohne Langematik Big Date Sax O Mat
The A. Lange & Sohne Langematik Big Date Sax O Mat has a very clean, contemporary design with a case that is not too big or too small. The case measures 37 mm in diameter, not counting the crown with an overall length of 44.8 mm when measure from lug to lug. The Langematik carry the first automatic movement of the brand and it was also available with and without a big date function.
Production of this amazing timepiece started in 1997 until 2007.
The Sax O Mat was handcrafted in Germany and available in 18K rose gold, white gold, yellow gold and platinum (with Big Date). While the Langematik without the Big date came available in 18K white gold, yellow gold and Platinum.
The case has a high polished finish and could be found paired with an alligator leather strap or precious metal bracelet.
The case has A. lange’s famous 3 step case structure with push corrector for the Big date by the 10 O’clock position and push down crown at the 3 O’clock position.
The dial is made of solid German silver with applied hour markers and gold hands which have been treated with lum.
The most interesting function of the Langematik Sax O Mat is the zero reset function, which has one of the best hacking seconds you can get in a movement. When you pulled the crown, this complication doesn’t just stops the seconds, it resets the seconds hand back Zero. This is thanks to the two levers that comes with this complication. One stops the balance wheel from moving while the other one stops the heart shaped cam of the seconds hand. Because of the asymmetric rotation of the shape, the blue seconds hand always jump back to zero.
Under the hood, is undoubtedly the best automatic caliber created by A. Lange in 1997. This is the Sax O Mat movement, caliber L921.4. This automatic movement has a brilliant architecture and features an off center rotor made of 21kt solid gold which has a stunning engraving. This rotor also have a 950 platinum mass for increase efficiency.
The movement is adjusted in 5 positions and works at 3 hertz using 45 jewels with a power reserve of about 46 hours.
The handcrafted movement is built on a solid 3/4 thick German silver plate which features Glashutte strips across the brides, engine turning on the baseplate and blued screws.
But the main feature is the famous A. lange balance cock. This balance has a beautiful flower engravings all done by hand.
