Rolex Datejust 41 Oyster Perpetual
The Rolex Datejust is a very recognizable timepiece with a very long history that dates back to 1945 when Rolex introduced reference 4467 to celebrate the brand’s 40th anniversary.
The famous fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet was first seen with the 1945 model, while the Cyclops lens over the date window was first introduced in 1954. The 41 mm did not come to the market until 2009, called the Datejust 2 but in 2016 Rolex Introduced the Datejust 41 which was a refined version of the Datejust 2. The refinements included a larger dial, a narrower bezel, tapered lugs for a slimmer profile and updated crown design. The biggest upgrade is what powers this timepiece, automatic caliber 3225.
The Rolex Datejust is also available in the classic 36 mm size and can be configure with a variety of materials and dials, as well as options like, Jubilee bracelet or smooth bezel.
The new Datejust 41 continues the legacy of this collection but now with new dial options like the fluted motif dial that looks amazing under the light. It definitely makes this dial come to life and gives it a more modern appearance. But the overall layout remains the distinctive face of Rolex that we all know. The dial has a date window at the 3 O’clock position, Rolex crown at the 12 O’clock position and applied white gold hour markers filled with Chromalight lum, which is very bright at night.
The hour and minute hand also have lum. The case measures 41 mm in diameter, 11.7 mm in thickness and from lug to lug, the Datejust measures 47.5 mm.
The oyster bracelet is made of oystersteel but is also available in other precious materials. The bracelet features Rolex’s folding Oysterclasp with Easylink that extends the bracelet an extra 5 mm for additional adjustment.
Under the hood, this Rolex uses caliber 3235. A chronometer certified movement that has a -2 +2 precision per day. This automatic movement works at 4 hertz and has a power reserve of 70 hours which is a big improvement when compared to its predecessor.
The movement also includes, bi directional winding, blue Parachrom hairspring, quick set function for the dates and hacking seconds for precise time setting.
