MB&F Horological Machine N5
The HM5 is another ingenious design by MB&F that proves that sky is the limit. Just like any other model created by the company, the HM5 was a design inspiration that was developed before even considering the movement that would make this awesome machine tik!
The inspiration for the case design came from the 70’s science fiction movies as well as the futuristic quartz and digital time pieces of the area.
But most importantly, from the super cars of that era like the Lamborghini Muira.
This machine was first introduced to the market in 2012 and is available in 18kt gold, CarbonMacrolon and Zirconium.
Time is displayed in a very unique way. Since the movement is sitting flat, MB&F came up with an impressive idea. The company is using a crystal prism which reflects the numbers of the hour and minute disc at 90 degrees. It also magnifies the numbers by 20%.
The case consist of a combination of 18kt rose gold, titanium / Zirconium. The black flaps on the top (which resembles to the louvers of the super sport cars of the era), are not there for just aesthetics. These flaps can be open and close using the small crown on the side of the case.
The main function of these flaps is to allow light inside the movement to keep the Superluminova on the numerals charged, for easier reading at night.
This timepiece has a dual case design. In other words, there is a secondary case inside which holds and protects the unique engine from moisture and shocks. If water happens to leaks in thru the external case, it’s drained back out thru the exhaust ports on the back.
Under the hood is the 3 dimensional horological engine developed by Jean-François Mojon and Vincent Boucard of Chronode.
The unique machine is powered by a GP / Sowind gear train movement with 30 jewels, 42 hours of power reserve and features the famous MB&F battle axe rotor.
This unique case is secure to the wrist by a black rubber strap which is very flexible. The open bends keep your wrist nice and cool.
The Horological Machine N5 is a limited to only 66 pcs worldwide make it very desirable and hard to find.
