Arnold & Son Double Hemisphere Perpetual Moon
There are many luxury timepieces with moonphase indicators, but it’s rare to find one that makes the moonphase the main focus. The Arnold and Son Double Hemisphere Perpetual Moon takes it to another level, featuring a 29 mm moon disc on the dial with two giant moons.
The case is crafted from 18K rose gold, with the bezel and case fully polished. The side profile of the short lugs has a stepped area with a satin finish, adding to its beauty. From lug to lug, it measures 47.8 mm, and its thickness is 12 mm.
The large crown is easy to grip, featuring a polished logo with a blasted center. The watch comes with a 20 mm brown alligator leather strap, showcasing large rectangular scale pattern with monotone stitching.
The dial is adorned with a beautiful guilloche pattern, and the moonphase disc is equally decorated. The applied hour and minute markers, along with the large hands, are made of rose gold. However, the standout feature is the moonphase display.
The dial has two apertures representing the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, featuring hand-painted constellations and two gold moons, each over 11 mm in diameter. The texture on these moons is hand-engraved, creating a very impressive display.
To precisely adjust this large moon display, there’s a pusher at the 2 o’clock position which is use in conjunction with the second moon indicator on the back of the timepiece.
Under the hood, the Perpetual Moon houses the caliber 1512, a highly decorated movement that operates at 3 hertz, using 27 jewels and offering a 90-hour power reserve, thanks to its two mainspring barrels. This manual movement features Côtes de Genève decoration, chamfered bridges with polished edges, and engine turning on the backplate.
