Pre-Owned Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa XL Hebdomadaire Palladium — Grey Dial, Box & Papers
Before Michel Parmigiani built a maison in his own name, he spent two decades restoring other people’s — Patek, Breguet, Vacheron. When he finally launched a brand in 1996, it was one of the few in modern watchmaking founded by a horologist who already knew every mistake the industry had made.
Available now at Black Tag Watches (Aventura, Florida), this 2015 example — reference PF011809-01 — is cased in palladium 950, powered by the in-house eight-day PF110 calibre, and offered complete with its original Parmigiani Fleurier presentation box, instructions, and warranty certificate dated 2015.
What Is the Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa XL Hebdomadaire?
The Restorer Who Became a Manufacture
Parmigiani Fleurier was founded in 1996 in Fleurier, Switzerland by Michel Parmigiani — a horologist whose reputation was built not on new watches but on the restoration of old ones. From the mid-1970s onwards, Parmigiani’s workshop restored important pieces for the Patek Philippe Museum, Breguet, Vacheron Constantin, and eventually the Maurice-Yves Sandoz Collection — one of the largest collections of antique clocks, pocket watches, and automatons in Switzerland. That last commission led to the maison itself: Pierre Landolt of the Sandoz Family Foundation provided the resources for Parmigiani to launch under his own name, and the foundation has backed the manufacture continuously since. Few modern maisons carry that depth of restoration pedigree at their foundation.
The Kalpa as a Founding Collection
The Kalpa is one of Parmigiani’s founding collections, and the XL Hebdomadaire is one of its more horologically substantial expressions. With an eight-day power reserve running from an in-house twin-barrel calibre, the Kalpa XL Hebdomadaire is not a shaped dress watch that happens to carry a complication — it is a shaped case engineered around a serious movement. For collectors of independent haute horlogerie, the palladium execution of the reference is one of the more materially uncommon variants the collection has offered.
Dial & Case Design: Palladium 950, Golden-Section Silhouette
The Palladium Case and Kalpa Geometry
The 44.5 by 37.2mm case is rendered in palladium 950 — a genuinely unusual choice, whiter than platinum, lighter on the wrist, and used by very few contemporary watchmakers — with a 53mm lug-to-lug measurement and 11.5mm thickness. The Kalpa silhouette is one of Michel Parmigiani’s own design gestures, sized to golden-section proportions and rendered as a shape that sits deliberately between a rectangle and a tonneau. The case flanks are polished; the lugs are integrated into the case body in a fluid, sculpted geometry. Palladium at this case size and price point is almost unique to Parmigiani in the current market — a material differentiator that is a fact of the object rather than a marketing claim.
The Grey Dial and Quadrance et Habillage Finishing
The grey dial is arranged with a discipline that reads as instrument rather than ornament: a small-seconds sub-dial with an integrated date aperture at 6 o’clock, and a power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock — the eight-day reserve visualised as a horizontal arc. Applied faceted white gold indices and slim javelin-shaped hands are Parmigiani signatures; the dial script sits between them without interruption. As with all Parmigiani dial work, the finishing is executed by the Sandoz group’s dedicated dial manufacture, Quadrance et Habillage, and the coherence between dial, case, and hands reads as a single design gesture rather than three sourced components.
Movement: Manufacture Calibre PF110 — Eight-Day Twin-Barrel
The Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier Ecosystem
Inside the Kalpa XL Hebdomadaire is the manufacture Parmigiani Fleurier calibre PF110 — a manual-wind movement of 28 jewels comprising 267 parts, twin-barrel, with an eight-day (192-hour) power reserve. The PF110 is produced by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier — the movement manufacture established in 2003 as part of the Sandoz-backed vertical integration of the Parmigiani group, and one of the more consequential in-house movement suppliers in modern independent watchmaking. VMF supplies not only Parmigiani but also Hermès (a shareholder in the manufacture), Richard Mille, and a select group of other high-horology houses that require serious in-house movement work at a level of finishing and engineering the broader industry cannot easily match.
Twin-Barrel Construction and the Eight-Day Reserve
The twin-barrel construction is what makes the eight-day reserve possible — two mainsprings coupled to deliver the amplitude and torque required to keep the movement running accurately across the full week and a day between windings. The PF110 is signed and numbered, decorated with Côtes de Genève on the bridges and perlage on the mainplate, and visible through the sapphire display caseback. An eight-day reserve delivered with maintained amplitude is a considerably more demanding engineering brief than a standard 40-hour movement — and it is the specification the Kalpa XL Hebdomadaire is built to demonstrate.

Full Original 2015 Delivery
Provenance is full. The watch is offered with its original Parmigiani Fleurier presentation box, instructions, and warranty certificate dated 2015. For a Kalpa XL Hebdomadaire in palladium — a materially uncommon variant produced in modest numbers, and rarely seen in the secondary market with a complete original delivery — a full set from within the production window is the meaningful long-term signal for both authentication and future service. Parmigiani service centres will authenticate and service the watch on the basis of the case markings, movement signature, and delivery documentation.

Why Buy a Pre-Owned Parmigiani Fleurier Kalpa XL Hebdomadaire?
An Integrated Manufacture Ecosystem Behind a Small-Volume Maison
The Kalpa XL Hebdomadaire occupies a specific corner of the independent haute-horlogerie secondary market — recognised by collectors who read movement supplier ecosystems as identity signals, largely invisible to buyers whose category discipline stops at the volume brands. That distinction matters. In an industry increasingly dominated by waiting-list dynamics and speculative valuation, Parmigiani offers something structurally different: a genuinely small-volume independent maison with a fully integrated Swiss manufacture ecosystem behind it — Vaucher for movements, Quadrance et Habillage for dials — no distributor markups from a retail-partner network, and no incentive to prioritise supply-constrained sport references over serious mechanical work.
A Material and a Movement Almost No Competitor Offers
Against contemporary independent haute-horlogerie retail — and against the current AP, Vacheron Constantin, and Patek dress-watch markets — this Kalpa XL Hebdomadaire in palladium offers direct entry into one of modern Swiss watchmaking’s more considered independents at a level meaningfully below primary-market retail. The calibre PF110 fully operating, a complete original delivery, an eight-day twin-barrel movement, and a case material almost no other maison uses at this size and price point combine to make the value proposition clear for the collector who understands what the manufacture is actually building.
