Louis Erard x Konstantin
Today, we’re diving into a timepiece that breaks the mold of traditional luxury watches, proving that high-end horology can also be whimsical and playful. Enter “The Time Eater,” a limited edition collaboration between Louis Erard and Konstantin Chayken, released in 2023.
The standout feature of this watch is undoubtedly its dial, which resembles a friendly monster with its wide-open mouth and single eyeball. It’s a refreshing departure from the usual serious and formal designs found in luxury watches.
Beyond its captivating dial, The Time Eater sports a polished stainless steel case, measuring 42 mm in diameter and 49.2 mm from lug to lug, with a thickness of 12.4 mm. On the wrist, it wears comfortably, particularly thanks to its curved lugs.
The watch comes with a unique toad leather strap, featuring a glossy black finish on the outside and traditional calfskin leather in green on the inner side. The curved bars and quick-release tab make strap changes effortless, while the polished stainless steel pin buckle ensures a secure fit.
Beneath the surface lies the Sellita SW266-1 automatic movement, operating at 4 hertz with 31 jewels. While the finishing may not be extravagant, it’s certainly commendable. The movement boasts bidirectional winding and offers a power reserve of 38 hours. With a water resistance rating of 50 meters (5 BAR), The Time Eater can handle some moisture but is not suitable for swimming.
In summary, The Time Eater offers a refreshing and unconventional take on luxury watchmaking, perfect for those seeking something fun and different. Limited to just 178 pieces worldwide, it’s a unique addition to any watch collection.
