Breguet Tradition Retrograde Date 7597BR
Given the opportunity to select two Breguet watches for my personal collection, my choices would encompass one from the Marine collection and another from the Tradition collection — the latter being my personal favorite.
Introduced in 2005, the Tradition collection pays homage to the legacy of Abraham Luis Breguet and his renowned pocket watch number 1836. This vintage-inspired design has undergone meticulous modifications to seamlessly transition into a wristwatch format, offering a plethora of complications, including retrograde seconds, GMT, and tourbillon.
This one is the Tradition Retrograde Date, reference number 7597BR. This classic timepiece boasts a date indicator and is powered by an automatic movement.
Beneath the surface, the beating heart of this masterpiece is the caliber 505Q. The caliber has a power reserve of 50-hour and it operates at 3 hertz using 45 jewels. The 505Q features a silicium balance spring and horn, along with an inverted straight line lever.
The unique charm lies in the openwork dial, revealing the intricate mechanical components of the 505Q. An offset main dial at 12 and a retrograde date indicator at the bottom contribute to a harmonious dial design, allowing a full view of the wheels and the barrel centered below the main dial.
The main dial, crafted from solid gold with a silver finish and it showcases a stunning Gilloche pattern at the center, while the classic blue Breguet hands further enhance the aesthetic. This gorgeous dial is encased in a 40 mm 18k rose gold case, featuring Breguet’s signature coin-edge case flank and individually welded lugs. The case comes paired with a brown alligator leather strap and an 18k rose gold pin buckle.
This handsome creation not only graces the wrist but also serves as an absolute masterpiece, offering a nostalgic glimpse into the brand’s rich origins.
