Crafted entirely in 18k rose gold, the 5980R-001 is not simply a precious-metal Nautilus. It’s a statement of refinement and modern horology at its highest level.
The signature porthole-inspired case measures 40.5mm in diameter, striking a perfect balance between presence and wearability. The case has alternating satin-brushed and polished finishes highlight the Nautilus’ iconic geometry while adding depth and warmth to its silhouette.
The brown dial features Patek Philippe’s horizontal embossing, providing texture and visual contrast against the rose-gold applied hour markers and hands. Luminous coating ensures legibility, while the date window at 3 o’clock maintains practical everyday usability.
What truly sets the 5980R apart is its mono-counter chronograph display. Instead of traditional subdials, Patek integrates both the 60-minute and 12-hour chronograph counters into a single register at 6 o’clock—clean, intuitive, and visually unique.
Under the hood, the Nautilus Chronograph is using the in-house Caliber CH 28-520 C, an automatic flyback chronograph movement combining classical architecture with modern performance.
The movement is composed of 308 parts and offers 55 hours of power reserve.
Visible through the sapphire caseback, the movement showcases Patek Philippe’s uncompromising standards in decoration.
